Larry Montanez.
Larry has worked every job position in the collision repair facility – from porter, body technician, frame/structural technician, welder fabricator, refinish technician, foreman, estimator, and manager – for over forty years. P&L Consultants began in 2001, and Larry coined the phrase "Estimology"™, which is the study and understanding of the estimating process.
To be a true Estimologist®, one must understand the construction of the vehicle, how it absorbs collision damage, the energy and forces involved, the repair process itself, P-Page logic, and how to negotiate for profit and fairness.
Larry Montanez began his career over forty years ago as an auto customizer and fabricator, then moved through every position in the shop — porter, body technician, frame/structural technician, welder fabricator, refinish technician, foreman, estimator, and manager. P&L Consultants exists because the person scoping the repair should also know how to measure it, diagnosis it, repair it, weld it, paint it, and stand behind it.
P&L has developed a comprehensive estimating training program and workshop that helps shops limit supplements while increasing profits and improves auto body and insurance relations — what we call Finding the Sweet Spot®. After attending the P&L Training and Workshop, then practicing the methods, you'll analyze collision-damaged vehicles more accurately and efficiently, with fewer supplements.
Programs are built for both insurance company appraisers and auto body repair estimators — P&L does not favor one side over the other; we support the correct and proper repair. The 10 Step Process of Scoping®, Forgotten Items in Each Area®, P-Page explanation, hands-on writing, and mechanical and electronic 3-dimensional measuring ensure an accurate estimate every time.
P&L also conducts pre- and post-repair investigations, Right to Appraisals, EDR/CDR investigations, accident reconstruction, training provider for the Rhode Island Certified Collison Repair Technician Program, and consulting to the New York State DMV Safety Division, major insurance companies, auto body repair facilities, consumers, and law firms. Larry is a former Collision Damage Analyst (CDA) at Lange Technical Services Ltd, an engineering firm, conducting accident and collision reconstruction for the same audiences.
Larry is a former I-CAR Area Training Manager for New York, New Jersey, and Eastern Pennsylvania, Larry was qualified to teach 67 I-CAR Enhanced Delivery Courses and all three Welding Qualification Tests. He co-hosts Repair University and has written extensively for the trade publications collision repair professionals read.
